John_mark_karrUPDATE: Told you. (Wankers.)

There are Americans dieing in Iraq today. You don’t see it on TV.

There are Americans dieing in Afghanistan today. You don’t see it on TV.

There are Americans suffering in New Orleans, or from the aftermath of war. You don’t see it on TV.

The President acts like a King and you don’t see it on TV. The country is going broke and you don’t see it on TV. The heat is killing us and you don’t see it on TV.. Gas prices $3/gallon? You don’t see it on TV.

Instead what you see on TV, all you see on TV, is some dim bulb named John Mark Karr.

And I don’t care. I don’t want to see it. It’s news porn, 24-7, stuffed down you like rape because you just wanted to know what was happening in the world.

It’s possible that Mr. Karr (who supposedly wanted to become Ms. Karr) killed a six-year old girl named JonBenet Ramsey 10 years ago. It’s also possible he didn’t.

Either way, no amount of TV coverage will wipe the blood off the networks’ hands, the blood of Patsy Ramsey, the victim’s mother, who was hounded out of Colorado, tried and convicted, and died earlier this year of cancer, with no closure, nor even an apology, from the ghouls who did this to her.

And did you notice that none of them said, to her surviving family, or to us, "I’m sorry?" I’m sorry for destroying your family and your life with lies and deceit, with cameras and innuendo?

No shame. And did you notice that many of the players from that fiasco of
10 years ago are still there? Still playing the same shell game? Only now doing it to Karr. (Except he seems to want it.)

It is at times like this that I am ashamed to have ever dreamt of being
a journalist. It is at times like this that I’m glad no TV network ever
hired me. It is at times like this that I’m embarrassed for those who
take the job seriously, or think we should ever take them seriously for
the job they do.

This week, so-called journalism has hit a new high in low.

I’d rather be a blogger.
There’s less shame in it.

UPDATE:
If journalists want to obsess over the murders of young American women, they might start with these. This one, for instance, was born just three years before JonBenet. (Her name was Sam W. Huff.) And the person most responsible for her death is easy to find. In fact, TV probably has someone at his house right now.

Rather than reading names or listing names, how about we all go to this guy’s house with photos like these? It would be great TV. Or what if TV showed these pictures more often?

We can’t do anything about JonBenet. But we can stop this slaughter.

But Dana, it’s silly season all year round. Grab a book, listen to some music, shop or something.
I’ve been enjoying the 1966 game of late, it sounds much like the B-Movie theory.
